Focus On The Good

I hope everyone is doing well given the circumstances we are all dealing with. It comes and goes for me... sometimes I'm cool, and then other times it hits me like a ton of bricks that pretty much the whole world is on a lock down and I'm seeing some of my favorite local places in my town being forced to shut down. I'm the type of person that one minute I believe ignorance is bliss, then next minute, I'm trying to take on all of the world's problems. Funny how that works. But I've come to the realization that it's time to focus on the good things in life! There is absolutely nothing I can do about this global pandemic. But I CAN control my attitude about it and I CAN control how to make the best use of my time. Here are a few ways I've been able to focus on the good:

1. I've been texting and having REAL phone conversations more!
I know this sounds odd, but usually I just spend my social time on my phone through Facebook and Instagram-scrolling. But I have made it a point to text and actually call my friends and my youth girls more since I can't see them face to face!

2. Getting stuff done around the house.
I finally cleaned the fan I've been starring at, saying, "I'm going to clean that thing soon!" lol I think being stuck inside my house has motivated me to keep it clean and try to get more organized! I found that I actually enjoy cleaning once I start doing it. Anyone else relate?

3. Cheerful Giving
I love supporing my favorite restaurants and tithing at church knowing the great impact it has during this crisis. While this is a scary time, knowing that my money is going to directly help makes me feel great!

4. Rediscovering Old Hobbies
I have the time to get back into scrapbooking wich I LOVE, but never seem to find the time to do it. I also drug out some of my adult coloring books which is really relaxing to do while listening to music if you feel like you've had too much screen time!

5. Quiet Time For Your Soul
During this time of uncertainty, I have really gotten into reading my Bible and journaling my prayers. Although the World feels upside down, my my faith in trust in Jesus is strong.

6. Getting Outside!
While we can't go to the mall and the movies, they have said nothing about getting out in nature! I went on an hour long walk yesterday! I didn't have anywhere to be and the sunshine felt amazing! I felt so refreshed afterwards!

7. Time With loved Ones
Tyler and I had a great time last weekend cleaning the house, making dinner together and watching our favorite tv shows!

I hope you find this post helpful. Remember, all of this is temporary and try to focus on the good!

Last Minute Gift Idea

Can you believe Christmas is only 6 days away?!?! I feel like Tyler and I just put up the tree! This is such a busy time of year for both my work and social life! But I love it! I am about done wrapping gifts for our family members. But it dawned on me that I left a few people out! Our neighbors, the mail man, my youth students, and a couple long distant cousins. So I had this simple and cheap Christmas gift idea! I used holiday to-go mugs and filled it with candy and packets of hot chocolate! I put a cute bow on top and gift tag and I was done! I think they turned out pretty great! Here are some pics! Let me know your last minute Christmas gift ideas! Or if you decided to give mine a try! DIY Christmas Cards

If you love to be creative and festive like me, then you will love making your very own Christmas cards! A nice card can be pretty expensive, so this year I decided to "DIY" my cards! I have always loved making personal birthday cards, so this year I thought, why not Christmas too?! I already had everything I needed to create the cards so the only thing that costed me was the stamps to mail them! Which is totally worth it to put a smile on my family's face with a little surprise in the mail! Here are some tips and pics of my DIY 2019 Christmas cards!  I used Christmas themed scrapbook paper and folded it over to make it thicker, like a card. I also added these cute scrapbook stickers.  They add so much cuteness to the cards!!  Nice stickers can be be pretty pricy at the craft stores, but my Grandma is so sweet and picks me up some stickers all year round when she goes to Goodwill and gets them for .99 for a brand new pack! What's To Come

I'm really looking forward of what's to come after all of this Corona-Crazy comes to an end! Although I'm LOVING working from home! I'm excited to for our first church gathering and our first night back at high school youth group! I can't wait for all the smiles, hugs, and laughs that will be shared! I really believe and pray that people will appreciate each other and the little things in life more than we used to!  I'm also really looking forward to our gender reveal party Tyler and I are going to host at our house next month! And we FINALLY get to find out if Baby Burton is a boy or girl! I feel like it's a girl, Tyler is convinced it's a boy! lol I don't even care at this point! I just want to know!!!! So I've been keeping my focus on the great things to come, instead of the negatives... which has really helped me during this time of being alone. I've also realized I'm more of a homebody/ introvert than I thought! lol Of course soc...
